To design a scenario-based learning module that helps learners understand and apply knowledge of red wine recommendations, enhancing their understanding of categories and features in real-life situations.
The original learning materials relied heavily on lists of wine categories and features, resulting in a less interactive experience that may fail to engage learners and promote practical application of knowledge.
I developed engaging, scenario-based learning activities that simulate real-world situations, allowing learners to apply their knowledge effectively.
The needs assessment included initial consultations with the academic staff to gain insights into the previous iterations of the course and analyze the existing learning materials to identify gaps, areas for improvement, and specific learner needs.
The initial design of this project started as a rough outline that maps out the number and types of scenarios. For each scenario, it includes the descriptors, wine choices, expert's responses, and prompts for all decision points, along with the corresponding feedback.
I then moved on to drafting written and visual storyboards for each page that outlines instructions and each decision point, including expert/customer conversations, as well as the scenario options and corresponding feedback.
This process involved crafting the scenarios initially using PowerPoint and later recreating them in Articulate Storyline 360. It incorporated built-in characters and AI-generated voiceovers, as well as producing audio tracks and developing scenarios that adapt to the learner's choices, ensuring an engaging and interactive experience.
